From food banks to recreation centers to cancer charities, nonprofit organisations would not be there without the volunteer contributions of dedicated board members. The board must be aware of state-level “Sunshine Laws” and other regulations that impact the way nonprofits conduct business. They must also be able to explain the significance of these laws to the organization’s daily operations. It’s also important for the board to be aware of the tax status of their organization and repercussions.
